Utilización de imágenes de temperatura radiativa e índice de vegetación mejorado para el estudio de las condiciones hídricas en la región pampeana

En este trabajo se avalúan los efectos de dos eventos ENOS en la disponibilidad de agua en el suelo de la región pampeana
argentina-uruguaya a través del índice Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI). En 3 áreas no cultivadas, ubicadas
en las provincias de La Pampa y Buenos Aires en Argentina y en el departamento de Maldonado en Uruguay se analizaron
imágenes satelitales del sensor MODIS de temperatura de superficie (LST) e índice de vegetación mejorado (EVI),
composición de 8 y 16 días respectivamente, de 67,75 ha de resolución. Los períodos de análisis fueron seleccionados a partir
del índice Niño 3.4 de anomalías de temperatura de la superficie del mar y comprendieron los meses de agosto-febrero de
2007-2008 (La Niña) y 2009-2010 (El Niño). El EVI mostró valores más bajos en la provincia de Buenos Aires y en
Uruguay para el periodo 2007-2008 que en 2009-2010, a partir de octubre-noviembre; la LST fue menor en Uruguay
para el periodo 2009-2010 que en 2007-2008. El TVDI mostró una leve tendencia a condiciones de menor disponibilidad
de agua en el suelo en Uruguay durante la etapa madura de La Niña. Se propone al TVDI como una herramienta para
evaluar las teleconexiones de ENOS en la disponibilidad de agua en el suelo de la región pampeana, con el potencial de
ampliar su utilización en el estudio, planificación y gestión de múltiples actividades o aspectos relacionados con el ciclo
hidrológico a escala regional.
