Relación entre caudales y precipitación en algunas cuencas de la Patagonia norte

El objetivo del presente estudio preliminar es establecer la relación existente entre el ciclo anual medio de caudal y el de precipitación en una estación representativa de las cuencas de los ríos Limay, Neuquén, Negro y Colorado. Las dos primeras son relevantes en cuanto a la generación de energía hidroeléctrica y las dos últimas son zonas bastante áridas, pero con valles que producen especialmente el cultivo de frutales. Los datos utilizados fueron la precipitación mensual acumulada diferentes períodos de acuerdo a la cuenca para cinco estaciones y datos mensuales de caudal de los ríos Limay, Neuquén, Colorado y Negro provenientes de diferentes fuentes. Los resultados indican que en el río Limay el año hidrológico comienza en marzo con máximos caudales en julio, con un desfasaje de 1 mes respecto del máximo medio de precipitación mensual. La variabilidad interanual de los caudales medios y de la precipitación acumulada durante el año hidrológico muestra una buena relación indicando que los valores de precipitación se reflejan en los caudales en las cuencas del Limay y del Neuquén mientras que el caudal del río Negro se relaciona mejor con la precipitación en las cuencas del río Limay y Neuquén. Lo mismo se observa para la relación entre los máximos valores de precipitación y caudal. La cuenca del río Colorado no presenta esta relación entre precipitación y caudal.
